Once received, our staff will contact you with a timely appointment for ongoing care if required after the first follow-up visit (our aim is to see you with 1-2 weeks).

3.  If you are experiencing persisting ill effects from a recent trip within the past 3-6 months but have returned to Canada more than a few weeks ago, and want to see if the problem could be addressed by a tropical medicine doctor, you will need to have your regular doctor (or a walk-in doctor) send us a formal referral to:

We may decline the request, because it was felt that we could not provide additional assistance to what has already been done. If we accept the request, an appointment will be set up in a non-urgent manner. We will not see chronic illnesses on a walk-in basis.

6.  If you are an expatriate with extensive exposure within developing countries on continents of Africa, Asia or Central and South America; and concerned about screening for chronic infections without symptoms until later in life (e.g., Schistosomiasis, Strongyloides, etc.), we will accept a formal referral from your regular doctor (or a walk-in doctor) sent to:

Fax: 403-246-9688, attention to “Odyssey Travel + Tropical Medicine Doctor”.

Once received, our staff will contact you with a non-urgent appointment for a post-travel screening if required after the first follow-up visit (our aim is to see you with 1-2 month depending on the doctors’ availability).

NOTE: We are a science-based conventional medical clinic, and do not provide alternative health services (e.g., naturopathy, homeopathy, TCM, etc.). However, we are willing to see post-travel patients who have seen such providers in the past, as long as the illness is clearly linked to past international travel and a formal referral is provided to us through a medical doctor or MD. Please refer to one of the above six categories for instructions.
